Sorry…nit picking chemistry rant…

First, this isn’t an equation…chemical equations are a representation of a reaction, this is a representation of a single molecule which we call a molecular formula. Second, you can’t tell what molecule C6H12O6 is from this molecular formula, it could be a number of different molecules.

The cool thing about sugars is that nearly all monosaccharides have the same molecular formula. Fructose, glucose, galactose, fucose…they all have the same molecular formula but different molecular structures. 

Glucose is the most common C6H12O6, but there are probably more than a dozen others. There may even be some molecules with that molecular formula that aren’t even sugars…though I’m not able to think of any off hand. So, yeah, the “sugarcube” is completely accurate and extremely clever. But I couldn’t stand by and let this completely esoteric misuse of chemical terminology pass.
